The Shop Years (1999 - 2003)
In the Summer of 1999, mom moved again (this woman moves a lot). But this time instead of transporting the car and its various pieces, she decided to invest some money and had the car worked on. So... it was off to a foriegn car shop in Richardson, Texas. Here, a wide range of work was done which I will benefit from. Some of the highlights included:
  • The electric fuel pump was removed and a mechanical pump added
  • New glove box
  • New Amp gauge
  • New dash pads and wood facia
  • New ash tray
  • New choke cable
  • New speedometer and tachometer cables
  • New overdrive harness
  • New radiator cowl
  • New clutch
  • Some expensive work on the clutch (something about a T/O Fork, Pin and Bolt)
  • Clean fuel tank
  • New engine and gearbox mounts
  • New fuel line
  • New coolant hoses
  • New transmission tunnel
  • New wiring harness
And, of course, none of the original parts were kept for reference. Typical!

After some time, mom had the car taken out of the shop and towed down to her home in Round Rock, Texas. There it sat in her garage for roughly two more years.
